Director  |  St. Helena Lifestyle Medicine Institute

Cheryl-Thomas Peters, DCN, RD, is the Director of the St. Helena Lifestyle Medicine Institute and Co-founder of the St. Helena TakeTEN™ program. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and is a Registered Dietitian from Loma Linda University. Cheryl specializes in nutrition science and teaches the concept that “food is medicine”. Her focus is on the prevention and treatment of lifestyle related chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver and kidney disease, and cancer along with obesity, metabolic syndrome and other health conditions.

Cheryl’s doctoral research focused on the development of a diet score and health habit score as a screening tool in clinical practice to predict risk of chronic disease. These risk screening lifestyle habit scores may be utilized in research to measure the impact of health habit changes on health outcomes and useful in building the body of evidence on the powerful health effects of lifestyle medicine.
